Building my own desktop wind tunnel

My passion for aerodynamics was ignited during an immersive experience at the University of Washington Aerospace Camp, where I observed the critical role of wind tunnels in analyzing flight dynamics. Inspired to bring this technology to a personal scale, I challenged myself to engineer a functional desktop wind tunnel.

Leveraging the advanced CAD proficiency I developed through FIRST Tech Challenge, I utilized Autodesk Fusion 360 to model the complex geometry of the intake and test sections.

To realize the design, I employed the team’s Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro, manufacturing the components in PLA. This material choice allowed for rigid construction and rapid prototyping, demonstrating how the engineering skills I’ve honed in robotics can be successfully applied to broader aerospace challenges.
